The project aims to promote the tourism and hospitality industry through the Regional Tourism Career Roadshow to address the current workforce issues. Due to the COVID-19 impact, it was established by the Tourism Workforce Steering Committee that the initial priorities for the Tourism Training and Skills Support Strategy (TTSSS) implementation plan might have to be adjusted to reflect the current environment of the tourism and hospitality industry. QTIC will be travelling to the 13 tourism regions throughout 2021 to deliver the Roadshows to upcoming school leavers and job seekers.

Come N Try Days 

The Come N Try Days will be promoted to upcoming school leavers,school career advisors, gap year participants,Jobactive networks,and jobseekers. The key objective is for participants to become interested in the tourism and hospitalitysector,consider it a viable career pathway,and better understandthe wide variety of careers available.

Face to Face Career Expo

A Career Expo will run consecutively with the Come N Try Days to ensure participants have access to career and training information and any potential employment opportunities. Guest speakers from industry will be invited to talk about career pathways that may not necessarily be initially evident to participants. Large employers with existing positions available specific to the region will also be invited to the have a stand in the career expo for further engagement with the participants.

Virtual Career Expo

Twelve virtual Career Expos will complement the Come N Try Days and face to face Career Expos by running approximately two weeks after each event to provide a wider reachf or employers to connect with school leavers, gap year participants and jobseekers. The virtual Career Expo will showcase employers and associated stakeholder's employment opportunities,career information,and industry-related materialin a virtual hosted platform. Participants will be able to visit each virtual booth to chat with employers and stakeholders online, download digital information and gain further insights into tourism and hospitality careers. Guest speakers from the regional area will be invited to present throughout the day in the virtual auditorium on various topics to highlight the industry. Pre recorded information will also be available in the auditorium on various career options and Government initiatives to help job seekers and employers access relevant information. There will also be a virtual job board where all regions employment opportunities will be available for participants to apply.The virtual Career Expo will remain open for an additional four days after the initial live event for participants to go back and access any information required.
