In light of the current circumstances related to COVID-19, the Department of Innovation and Tourism Industry Development (DITID) and the Tourism Industry Business Capability Development Program (TIBCDP) Reference Group have asked the Queensland Tourism Industry Council to suspend all promotion and delivery of the TIBCDP activities, up until the 1 June 2020.  

QTIC will seek further consultation from Regional Tourism Organisations on the 30 April 2020.  This meeting will provide an opportunity to present proposed delivery of future activities and events, focusing on the needs of businesses in light of the unique circumstances they find themselves in due to COVID-19.   

Tourism Industry Business Capability Program 

  • The Tourism Industry Business Capability Program aims to support tourism operators across the state by building digital capability and empowering them to deliver a consistently high standard of visitor experience.

  • The second year of the program will build upon the capability gains from Year 1 and focus on building Digital and Trade capabilities with emphasis on one-on-one mentoring and coaching for tourism businesses.

  • With the program about to start its second year, tourism operators who are eligible for a Best of Queensland Experiences Program results will have the opportunity to build their capability further.

  • The Year 2 program includes a digital mentoring program for 300 businesses, digital capability workshops and trade activities including mentoring and participation in trade events

Program Development - Collaboration 
  • Collaboration with key stakeholders in the tourism industry has helped shape the content and delivery model for the program. Stakeholders include the network of Regional Tourism Organisations and local suppliers who are expert in trade and digital capability development.
